Learn how to build your 12-hour GO kit!
A "GO kit," or disaster supply kit is a key part of every personal/family emergency plan and should include: food and water; household supplies for food preparation and sanitation; clothing and bedding; personal hygiene; first aid; tools; and important family documents.
On Tuesday, October 19, 2010, the MRC will be offering a FREE "Build your 12-hour GO kit" class. This course will be daught by one of our top field experts, and each attendee will receive a free fanny pack and many of the supplies needed to build your own Go-kit. Pre-requisites: ICS-100, ICS-200, NIMS-700, and MRC orientation.
Keep in mind family members with special needs, such as infants, elderly and the disabled, and pack accordingly. Also include items that will provide entertainment, such as games and books. Provisions should be kept in easy to carry containers with tight-fitting lids. Water and items with expiration dates should be rotated quarterly.
