Responsibilities and Expectations of MRC Members

Members of the Medical Reserve Corps should be able respond to many types of emergencies and disasters that may occur locally.  Keep in mind that an incident can occur during normal work hours, at night, or on a weekend, and may last for many days.  Members may need to deploy upon short notice and be prepared to work under stressful conditions.

Each member of the Medical Reserve Corps is expected to:
  • Participate in an orientation session
  • Develop and put in place a personal emergency preparedness plan
  • Participate in trainings and exercises
  • Participate in just-in-time training upon deployment to understand the management strategies for the specific incident
  • Accept assignments and work collaboratively with other members of a team
  • Act in a professional manner when representing the Medical Reserve Corps
